TODAY: The memory of Snowpocolypse 2021 still isn't distant enough for most of us who lost power for that horrific week, and now ERCOT is appealing to Texans to help prevent a possible Heatpocolypse of 2022. They are asking residents and state businesses to voluntarily cut back on their energy use between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Monday, July 11, when record temperatures are expected across our state.
We've been asked to conserve power as our power grid operator warns of rolling blackouts.
We face a "potential reserve capacity shortage with no market solution available", ERCOT said in an operations message on its website Sunday night.
ERCOT is encouraging us to voluntarily cut back TODAY from 2-8 pm.
How can you help prevent Heatpocolypse 2022?
Utilize natural light, keep lights off
Do not use major appliances (washing machine, dryer, dishwasher)
Turn refrigerator down
Unplug appliances not in use
Turn your thermostat up
Shut off pool pumps
Stay cool, friends.
